Here's some information for the 2009 Winter Meeting
We now have a motel selected for visitors to stay at. Americas Best Value Inn &
Suites located at 1601 N St Marys has agreed to a price of $44.95 for a single
and $49.95 for a double. All prices plus tax. To reserve a room at these prices
please call the motel directly at 361 358 4100 and tell them you want the rate
quoted for the pigeon club. These rooms include: a continental breakfast,
micro/fridge and wireless internet. If anyone has any problems please contact me
and I'll get it straightened out. I urge everyone to reserve early to help us
out in knowing how many of flyers will be here.
The holiday is over and now the rush is on to get ready for the winter meeting.
The following is a schedule of events we have planned:
Fri Jan 16th
4:00 - 5:00PM Meet and greet at hospitality room in motel
5:00 Doors open at the VFW hall for the viewing of birds
5:00 - 7:00 View birds and enjoy a meal of fried fish, french fries and
coleslaw and all the trimmings and refreshments.
Pools will be open
7:00 Calcutta ( see rules below )
Beeville is small town America and we roll up the side walks at 9:00. the only
place to eat after 10:00 is fast food and Chillis.
So if you're not into fish plan to grab a bite before the auction.
Sat Jan 17th
7:00 - 9:00 AM Continental breakfast available at motel
9:30 Texas Center Business Meeting
Travel to loft to await birds. If we are unable to
have a scheduled race we'll have a training toss. We'll have pigeons
coming in from somewhere.
11:00 Lunch of Bar B Que, beans, potatoes salad and all the trimming and
refreshments
12:00 Live auction of a great selection of breeding pigeons donated by
some of the best lofts in the country.
Look on I Pigeon for the list after the first of the year.

Calcutta rules: As you know there are not many birds remaining and we don't know
when we'll be able to race the 300. The high calcutta will be buying the bird
for delivery after the 300 mile race and also be in the pool that will pay 4
places: 40, 30, 20 & 10. The pools will also be for the 300 mile contest. It
goes without saying that if the bird is not able to make the 300 mile race all
your money will be refunded. The LOW calcutta will put you in the pool for the
150 mile tune up race whenever it's flown. Pay off will be same as 300 mile
race. HIgh calcutta bidder will be offered the option of low calcutta. If
rejected it will pass to the second high bidder who will not be required to take
it. If they reject the offer, it will be open to anyone.If not taken up we'll
move on.
ALL CALCUTTA'S AND POOLS WILL BE CUT 15% FOR EXPENSES
If bird is unable to make the 150 mile race all monies will be refunded.
There will be offered a $75 buy back for the high calcutta and a $ 25 buy back
for the low calcutta. Arrangements for returning birds after the races will have
to be worked out.
We realize that this is a unique situation and be want most of all to be fair to
all and to have fun. If you have any suggestions on how to make things better
please feel free to let me know.
