2012 HARRIS COUNTY FUTURITY
AUCTION RACE
The purpose of HCF Auction option is to allow those who want to play for “bigger bucks” to do so. There will be four auctions in which HCF banded birds are auctioned to the highest bidder. The money raised will be paid out in prizes to the top auction birds clocked based on 5% of the total birds sold or fraction thereof.
(For example 80 birds will pay 4 places ; 81 to 100 birds will pay 5 places)
It’s a “race within a race” but completely optional. Here’s how it works………..
1. Breeder may designate an HCF banded bird for the auction by paying a $30 entry fee.
2. The bird must be present at one of the scheduled auctions (no special auctions for latecomers) Periodic reminders of each auction will be sent via e-mail.
3. Bidding will begin with a $30 minimum bid. Breeder will be the automatic buyer if there is no other bid.
4. The successful bidder and the breeder will split futurity and auction prize money 50/50. Breeders may bid on their own birds.
5. OOA breeders may bid on their own birds as well. If successful, the OOA breeder will become the bidder of record. In this case the breeder/handler split will be 70/30.
6. After the race, birds become the property of the winning bidder.
THE AUCTION DATES ARE AS FOLLOWS: (Time and place will be announced for each auction)
February 5th, March 4th, April 1st, April 29th.

Note to OOA breeders: The auction has proven to pay higher prizes than the futurity itself. By designating your bird for the auction and paying the $30 entry, you are automatically in for half.
If you are the successful bidder, then you’re in for 70% and you can place your bird with the handler of your choice. Please arrange OOA proxy bidding with a committee member. Please note the auction dates, so your birds can be here on time.
