Robert (Bob) Phillips died on June 4, 2011. He was born January 7, 1930. Bob was retired from the Air Force with 23 years. He was a mechanic on B-52s,F-38s and KC-135s. After the military service he worked as insurance adjuster. He was one of the old timers with 60 years of pigeons flying. He flew in four different clubs in San Antonio, Texas. The clubs were Highland Park, Lone Star, Woodland, and All-City. During this time he served all levels of officers in the different clubs.

Bob truly loved God, his family, and his birds. His birds were always in great shape and well trained. The little blue pickup with the special built pigeon crate in the bed would be on the road when it was time for the birds to be trained. The regular meeting with other pigeon flyers at the coffee shop was a big part of his daily routine. But when it was time to tend to birds and dogs Bob would at home taking care of them.

Bob was the kind of person that every pigeon club needs to be successful. Always ready to work or do what ever needed to be done. He didn’t a lot to say, but was very good at not letting things get out hand. The old pigeon flyers like Bob are hard to replace.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Elaine Phillips. Who was a big supporter of Bob and his pigeons.

He is survived by Rev. Dr, Lonnie Phillips and family, Cindy Calvin and family, Ann Headley and family and Jake Phillips and family. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty five great-children and one great-great-child.

Keep them flying Bob
