Byron Williams began pigeon racing with his Father, Leo Williams in New Orleans, La. when he was 14 years old flying with the Greater New Orleans Combine. From then on he has had the good fortune of winning many awards with his well known Buschaerts! In 2002 he moved to Slidell, La. with his wife and children leaving his breeders at his father's home in New Orleans and handling his race team in Slidell. In 2005 Hurricane Katrina came and caused devastation in every way. Byron lost all of his breeders in the flood waters, but the race team survived in Slidell after a week without care. He felt blessed to have survivors. Byron was able to fly OB's that year, but tragedy struck again. December of that same year the loft caught on fire and was burned to the ground in the evening time. Mo stood looking from the pool at the blazing fire and recalled all the times she resented the pigeons and wished Byron would give them up. She worried that Byron would look at her and think, "You got your wish". But that didn't happen. Instead miracles happened and they started to rebuild. This time they were in it together. Mo became involved with the pigeons and became the loft manager. They obtained the birds that Byron always wanted ( Most of our breeders are GFL birds from Mike Ganus) and made many new friends in the pigeon sport. Soon after this new partnership was formed, Mo became pigeon crazy. The guys are still amazed at her turn around. Byron trained her the first year and after Mo's request she flew her own team of OB hens. The results were great and caused much excitement in the club and combine. They have made a Comeback! With great thanks to God, this husband and wife team has truly learned to turn tragedy into triumph.
