News Update! 10/05/2011
Birds are very healthy and have been training well. They have had many tosses
with 2 tosses at 60 miles. Lost a few at the second 60 mile toss.
Birds will be trained once a week at 30 miles and loft flown daily during
October. Will begin training again in earnest at the beginning
of November.
Another reminder that we are in an oil boom here and if you are planning on
coming to Beeville, I would
suggest that you be looking
for a room.

News Update! 9/10/2011
Fellow Flyers: Here it is Sept and we've started the birds down the road. The included two attachments are the most recent inventory.
We've suffered some losses but that's to be expected. We regret it if yours was one of the birds lost. There have been a couple of
changes since last update. Evidently last month when I posted the pay outs I made a mistake. I listed the first place payout as $2700
and it should have been $2750. In addition we had over looked one of the birds and had it on the wrong list. So we've got it straightened
out and rather than redo the payout schedule we just added a 16th place that
will pay $140.
I've heard from some of you and that you've made your reservations. I encourage
all of you who even have the slightest idea of attending
to make reservations early and cancel if you can't make it.
So that's all from here for now. We wish all of you success in the upcoming
series of young birds and for some of you old birds.
Yours in the Sport
Dick Segelken
Birds have been to 30 miles 4 times. Lost a few on the first 30 mile toss,
previous toss was 25 miles and they came
home same time as I did.
Will continue to train and get in some long tosses prior to the race.- Fred

News Update! 8/5/2011
Fellow Flyers: There's not much to report in this monthly update. All the birds are routing well and since we're getting ready to train for the
young bird
season the birds will start down the road shortly. We did have a meeting and
established the payouts. We elected to pay 16 places as follows
1 2750
2 1550
3 1000
4 750
5 500
6 500
7 400
8 300
9 300
10 200
11 200
12 200
13 150
14 150
15 150
16 140
We'll be paying first drop money and trapping order after that. If there are
more than 15 birds on the drop only the first 15 through the trap will split the
prize money
The calcutta and pools will be cut 15% for expenses and there will be a $50.00
buy back available. The calcutta will pay 6 places : 33%,25%,15%,10%,10% & 7%.
Since there are only 76 birds available for the race the pool will pay 4 places:
40%, 30%,20% & 10%
We're planning some good food to serve you both Fri at the calcutta and Sat at
the loft.
As I've been telling you the motels in Beeville fill up fast so if you have any
intention of attending PLEASE book your room early. Ron Carem called and told me
that Holiday Inn Express is getting $169 a night. That's a little expensive. I
checked and the Best Western is a little cheaper and Motel 6 is even better than
that. As always you get what you pay for. YOu might want to consider rooms
outside of Beeville. The towns of Sinton, Georgewest, Kennedy are within 30
miles and Corpus and Victoria are about 60 miles.
So that's it for now. I hope you're all getting ready for a exciting young bird
season and some of you are also doing old birds. Until next time
Keep'm FLying
